Rosetta Translation
Significatio stabilis manet dum dialectus mutatur. — Meaning stays stable while dialect changes.
The same five words — Drift, Fidelity, Roughness, Return, Integrity — translate across 9 disciplinary lenses. Different fields speak different dialects, but the underlying Contract, Closures, and Ledger keep meanings stable. The Rosetta is not a metaphor table — it is a mechanical translation of auditable structure.
How Translation Works
Structural Stability
Each word has an operational meaning tied to the frozen Contract and reconciled in the Integrity Ledger. When you translate "Drift" to an epistemological lens it becomes "change in belief/evidence" — but the Contract still defines how much drift is measured (ω = 1 − F).
Integrity Is Never Asserted
The fifth word — Integrity — is not translated per lens because it is always derived: read from the reconciled ledger and stance. I = eₖ gives unitless multiplicative comparability across seams, regardless of dialect.
Prose Interface
Authors describe using the five words; the ledger, budget, and gates supply the audit. This split enables cross-domain reading (via the Rosetta) and multiplicative composition in I without forcing any field's jargon on another.
Four Steps to Use
1. Bind to Contract — name the invariants constraining your claim. 2. Write the four columns in prose using the chosen lens. 3. Reconcile via ledger — compute residuals and derive Integrity. 4. Publish receipts — provenance so readers can verify the seam.

Quinque Verba — The Five-Word Vocabulary
Five words form the minimal prose interface across all 20 domains. Each has an operational definition tied to the frozen Contract and reconciled in the Integrity Ledger. Authors describe using these five words; the ledger, budget, and gates supply the audit.

Cross-Lens Translation
Significatio stabilis manet dum dialectus mutatur — meaning stays stable while dialect changes.
| Lens | Drift (ω) | Fidelity (F) | Roughness (C) | Return (τ_R) |
|---|
Integrity (IC) is never a column. It is read holistically from the reconciled ledger and stance. I ≡ eκ provides unitless multiplicative comparability across seams.
Live Kernel Translation — Scenario Engine
Select a scenario. The kernel computes invariants client-side and translates the result through all active lenses.
Conservation Budget — Semantic Warranty
The five words ground a conservation law. The algebra is a warranty behind the prose — it explains why the ledger must reconcile.
Spina Grammatica — The Discourse Spine
Every claim follows this fixed five-stop spine. Spina non negotiabilis est.
9 Disciplinary Lenses
The same kernel output reads differently through each lens. Drift in physics is a phase transition; in policy it is a regime shift; in semiotics it is sign drift. The numbers are identical — the prose changes.
| Lens | Drift | Fidelity | Roughness | Return |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Epistemology | Change in belief/evidence | Retained warrant | Inference friction | Justified re-entry |
| Ontology | State transition | Conserved properties | Heterogeneity / seams | Restored coherence |
| Phenomenology | Perceived shift | Stable features | Distress / bias / effort | Coping / repair that holds |
| History | Periodization | Continuity / endurance | Rupture / confound | Restitution / reconciliation |
| Policy | Regime shift | Mandate persistence | Friction / externality | Reinstatement / acceptance |
| Semiotics | Sign drift | Ground persistence | Translation friction | Interpretant closure |
| Physics | Phase transition | Conserved quantity | Coupling / noise | Restorative equilibrium |
| Finance | Regime change | Portfolio persistence | Volatility / drawdown | Recovery / reversion |
| Neuroscience | State perturbation | Baseline coherence | Neural noise / effort | Homeostatic return |

Authors write in prose using these five words. The conservation budget Δκ = R·τᴘ − (Dω + Dᶜ) and interpretive density I ≡ eₖ serve as the semantic warranty behind the prose.
